Good morning!
Under mixed skies expect highs in the low to mid 80s today, with a NW wind becoming SW midday at 5-10 mph. There will be two opportunities for severe weather. This will be a brief look because I am again in a time crunch this morning.
Later this morning there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms associated with a warm front, especially western MA and southern VT, where heavy rain and lightning will be obvious hazards (like all storms today), but an isolated damaging wind gust is a possibility and a spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out, again highest risk in western New England. Regardless of any severe weather, that front will also bring a rise in humidity, with dewpoints going up into the upper 60s and 70s.
The second threat is this afternoon and evening, and there is higher confidence in a severe threat for most of New England, but the most significant threat is in northwest CT, western MA and southern VT. Damaging winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning are all possible, and again, an isolated tornado or two is not out of the cards.
Keep an eye to the sky and heed any possible severe thunderstorm, tornado, or flash flood warnings. I may try to get a midday update out but this is not a guarantee.
