7/10/20 Evening Update – TS Fay Update #3

Good evening!

This is a very quick update post regarding Tropical Storm Fay. Since landfall in New Jersey this afternoon, Fay has been weakening; the bulk of the rainfall is staying in New York state with this system as the highest rainfall totals continue to shift further west. Showers  remain likely overnight with isolated minor flooding possible in any heavy showers or storms but widespread heavy rain now appears unlikely.

Have a good night!

6/17/20 (Early Morning Update) – Significant Heat Ahead

Good morning!

The rest of this current overnight (I’m writing this at midnight) will remain clear, with a low around 49, and a calm wind. Today will be sunny, with a high around 83, and a light southeast wind. Wednesday night (most likely “tonight” by the time you read this) will be clear, with a low around 58, and a calm wind.

Thursday will be sunny, with a high around 90, and a light southwest wind. Humidity will increase a little bit Thursday, but will remain very tolerable, before rising after sunset Thursday and remaining on the humid side through the rest of the upcoming stretch. The low will be around 65 Thursday night, with mostly clear skies and a southwest wind around 5 mph.

weather 2020-06-17.001

Friday will be sunny and 93; Friday night will be mostly clear and 65. Saturday will be mostly sunny and 92; Saturday night will be mostly clear and 67. Sunday will be sunny and 92; Sunday night will be mostly clear and 67. There is a very limited potential that conditions may be favorable for very isolated showers and thunderstorms this weekend, but I don’t think it’s enough to warrant an inclusion on the five day forecast as things will most likely stay completely dry. The chances may increase into early next week as high heat in the low to mid 90s will likely continue.

5/22/20

Good morning!

With sunny skies, turning mostly sunny this evening, expect a high around 86 today, with a west-southwest wind of 5-10 mph. Tonight will start mostly clear, followed by conditions turning mostly cloudy, with a low around 59, and a light southwest wind.

Saturday will be partly sunny, with a high around 67, and winds shifting around sunrise to the east at 10-15 mph. Tomorrow will be showery in more southern parts of New England; conditions should stay dry here in northern Massachusetts but a stray shower isn’t entirely out of the question depending on the position of the cutoff low off the south coast of New England. A generally dry day is still expected nonetheless.

Beyond that, expect sunnier conditions, but still in the mid to upper 60s, for Sunday; Monday will likely break back into the 70s for a nice Memorial Day before summer temperatures take hold for the rest of the week. We should most likely reach into the low 80s Tuesday, and temperatures in the upper 80s or low 90s are likely Wednesday and Thursday.

Have a great day!

1-1-2019

Good very early morning and Happy New Year 2019!!! Rain continues overnight, with temperatures bottoming out now in the mid 30s and rising to the 40s overnight. While it’s all rain now, the near half-inch of snow that fell earlier this evening – well, technically the snow that fell last year – still remains on grassy surfaces, and more importantly, still remains on roads. A slushy and slick mess will remain on the roads for the first few hours of 2019, as rain makes its way into the snow (and the sleet that fell during the transition to rain). Be very careful if out on the roads tonight! New Year’s plus slick roads is not a good combination, so if you need to travel, be ultra cautious.

The heavy rain overnight will end predawn, giving way to decreasing clouds for this first day of 2019. The high will be 52, and a high wind warning is in effect from 8 AM to 3 PM as winds will be southwest at 10 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph possible as winds shift to the west midday. Winds continue to shift to the northwest going into tomorrow morning, with a low of 17 and a northwest wind of 5-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and 31, with a northwest wind at around 5 mph. Light northwest winds prevail Wednesday night, with partly cloudy skies and a low near 20; light snow is possible late that night into Thursday mid-morning.

weather 2019-01-01.001.jpeg

Any snow will give way to mostly sunny skies and a high near 35 Thursday, before increasing clouds take hold Thursday night with a low near 25. Friday will feature skies turning cloudy, a high near 43, and a chance of afternoon rain. Rain is possible Friday night, getting to near 35 degrees, before morning rain is possible Saturday, giving way to mostly cloudy skies and a high near 43.

11-6-2018

Good morning!

With rain this afternoon and evening, expect a high around 52, along with a south wind around 5 mph. Tonight will feature rain early, followed by decreasing clouds, and a low around 47. Winds will be south at 5-10 mph, gradually turning to the west. Remember to get out and vote today if you didn’t do so during the early voting period!

Skies turn mostly sunny tomorrow, with a high near 61, and a west wind of 5-10 mph.

Have a great day!
